Domain Names

Every website has a numeric address that works like coordinates on a map (IP address). Computers have no problems with locating and remembering these numeric addresses, however, most humans will have trouble remembering long complicated sequences of numbers,
so to make surfing the web easier, the domain name allows us to use words for websites instead of the complicated number sequences. Come up with a name that’s memorable, like “Google” or “Facebook” or which has a meaning for people like “moneysupermarket”.
Naming your Website…
Your domain name is the name of your website and it’s what people will type in the address bar to get to your website. Consequently, it’s extremely important to choose a name that not only represents your company but is also easy to remember. For example if you company was called “Paul’s Shoe Shop” a perfect domain name would be paulsshoeshop.co.uk You can also add hyphens to make it easier to read, like pauls-shoe-shop.co.uk but remember the shorter the domain name the easier it is to remember.

There are also many different domain extensions such as .co.uk, .com, .net, .it and .eu. What’s best for you depends on what you are doing with your website. If you are selling products in the UK only a .co.uk will be ideal as it is recognised as the UK extension. But if you’re selling internationally a .com would be better because it is the internationally recognised domain for commerce.

Domain names are the real estate of the Internet. Just as a good location is vital for a bricks and mortar business,
a good domain name will be the corner stone of your website’s success.

We’ll be happy to help you come up with a name for your site and check it’s availability. We’ll even buy it for you, but the domain name (URL) will be registered with your name, address and contact details. The domain name will be registered with a Domain Registrar and as such, you (the Client) shall agree to fully abide by the terms and conditions set out by the Domain Registrar for such services (see section 6 of terms and conditions).

We’ll search for a cost effective Registrar and won’t charge you anything for doing so. However, you will need to pay their annual fee (and this will become a recurring fee whilst your website is live). Failure to pay for the domain name on time could mean losing it. Ownership of the URL offers a full email account (which we’ll redirect to an account of your choice), unlimited email forwarding and full DNS management.

Here’s an indication to the current annual prices you can expect to pay for some of the popular your URL extensions, from “Daily” one of our preferred partners for domain names. Feel free to go direct and buy your domain now by clicking on the link below:
